Another display of 'Wit'

The storyline about "Wit" would be that the play was compiled by an elementary school teacher. That's less than true, scribe Margaret Edson revealed at Thursday's Broadway opening-evening shindig at B.B. King's. Yes, she has been an elementary school teacher for 19 years, but she authored the play two decades ago -- when she labored inside a bike shop. Leading lady Cynthia Nixon showed up in the party together with her shaved mind on proud display. But as past stars of cancer drama "Wit" know, you will get cold without any hair -- and that's why Judith Light, who performed the part throughout the show's original Off Broadway run, gave Nixon a cashmere cap being an opening-evening gift.Nixon remembered the evening before opening, just like the play ended, one theatergoer yelled out, "You are my girl!"
